Abx-induced Peripheral Neuropathy

Post by Retarted » Fri 23 Sep 2011 0:11

For those who experienced peripheral neuropathy induced by abx - did it ever fully resolve?

I got it from vancomycin, which is supposed to be very rare. It's only sensory, not motor. Seems much more common with flagyl.

In all cases, it seems related to nutritional deficits (mostly in magnesium or some B vitamins). I guess that means my supp regimen isnt enough, or my need are crazy high.

Lyme can cause peripheral neuropathy as well. In fact I wonder if my current peripheral neuropathy is purely vancomycin-induced or if it's the Bb spirochete dying-off. I still stopped vanco for now to not take any chances.

From spectracell im deficient in B5 and very low in B12. But vanco is not one of the abx that frequently cause peripheral neuropathy.

Hi,

My neurological symptoms (mainly in the form of paresthesias) resolved within days after stopping the i.v. flagyl treatment.
Best regards,
