Info about uncomplicated Lyme

Post by X-member » Tue 27 Dec 2011 21:59

Here you can post info about uncomplicated, and easy-to-diagnose Lyme for everyone that suffer from this!

From IDSA:

"The Clinical Assessment, Treatment, and Prevention of Lyme Disease, Human Granulocytic Anaplasmosis,
and Babesiosis: Clinical Practice Guidelines by the Infectious Diseases Society of America"

http://www.uphs.upenn.edu/bugdrug/antib ... lyme06.pdf

From Sweden:

"Läkemedelsbehandling av borreliainfektion
– ny rekommendation"

http://www.lakemedelsverket.se/upload/h ... k_webb.pdf

Quote (regarding the treatment for Lyme arthritis in Sweden):
Doxycyklin 100 mg × 2 14 dagar or:
Ceftriaxon 2 g × 1 i.v. 14 dagar
Dagar = days!

From Norway:

"Lyme-borreliose hos voksne" (Lyme borreliosis in adults)

http://tidsskriftet.no/article/1690011

The treatment for Lyme arthritis in Norway:
Borreliaartritt:

Det er ingen enighet om behandlingsvarigheten. Minimum behandlingstid er antakelig 20 dager, men mange foretrekker 28 - 30 dager. Doksysyklin 200 mg x 1 (eller 100 mg x 2)
Translation (with google translate):
Lyme Arthritis:

There is no consensus on treatment duration. Minimum treatment time is probably 20 days, but many prefer 28 to 30 days. Doxycycline 200 mg x 1 (or 100 mg x 2)
I wonder why exactly the same infection is easier to cure in Sweden?

From Denmark

http://www.ugeskriftet.dk/portal/page/p ... vers1c.pdf

The treatment for Lyme arthritis in Denmark:
Borrelia artrit
Tabl. penicillin V 1,5 MIE x 3 dgl. i 21 dage
What shall I say?

21 days oral treatment with penicillin V, is what they give for this in Denmark!

What do IDSA (or Steere) say about that, I wonder?

From Åland (Finland):

http://www.bimelix.ax/borreliamanual%20 ... 202010.pdf

Treatment for arthritis:
Stadium 2
Tidig disseminering (t.ex. multipla erytem, artrit, kardit, meningoradikulit, facialispares). Serologi och likvor undersöks alltid, men dröj inte med att sätta in behandlingen.

Behandling enligt situationen och med hänsyn till kroppsvikten.

Alternativ:

Amoxicillin: Vikt <70kg: 0,5 g x 3; Vikt >70 kg: 1 g x 3, 21 dagar. Se anm. under II.
Doxycyklin: Vikt <70 kg: 200 mg genast varefter 100 mg x 2 i 21 dagar; Vikt >70 kg: 300 mg genast, varefter 150 mg x2 i 21 dagar. Se anm. under II.
Ceftriaxon 2.0 x 1 i.v. 21 dagar. Obs. förstahandsbehandling om symtom har förekommit >4 veckor innan behandlingen sätts in, och dessutom vid risk för dålig ordinationsföljsamhet !
A not perfect translation (with google translate):

Stage 2
Early disseminated (such as multiple erythema, arthritis, carditis, meningoradikulit, facialispares). Serology and always CSF examination, but do not delay in setting up the treatment.

Treatment according to the situation and taking into account body weight.

Options:

Amoxicillin: Weight <70kg: 0.5 g x 3, weight> 70 kg: 1 g × 3, 21 days. See note. under II.
Doxycycline: Weight <70 kg: 200 mg immediately then 100 mg x 2 for 21 days; Weight> 70 kg: 300 mg immediately, followed by 150 mg x 2 for 21 days. See note. under II.
Ceftriaxone 2.0 x 1 i.v. 21 days. Note. first-line treatment of symptoms occurred> 4 weeks before treatment is given, and also at risk for poor adherence prescription!
Sorry, my first post about Åland was not correct, because the info was hard to understand, but I hope it is more correct now!
